A nice, relatively amusing old-fashioned animated feature. Some winning character design and a thematically interesting ending (an intriguing compromise between urban and pastoral, but is that only for the upper class?). The film drags, even despite its short runtime.
Urban where Disney is pastoral. However, by the 1940s Fleischer Studios feels as backwardly looking as Disney Productions of the same period - though to the 1920s rather than the 1820s. Misses the manic derangements of the vintage Betty Boop or Koko, which is what gave those shorts such zip. Nothing transforms here, save in a remarkable sequence in which Hoppity is electrocuted. Honey is typically winsome though!
