  1. Jerry Horror's rating of the film Mr. Church

  2. Dalibor's rating of the film Mr. Church

Two hour long reanimation of Eddie Murphy's career. Patient dies nonetheless. Along with it, so does any attempt for more than just a simplified drama about whatever they found useful to write into a dramatic screenplay, and narrate its way towards an audience prone to believe over-stating someones last name is character development.

  3. cogncierge's rating of the film Mr. Church

“...and then there are those who say nothing at all... because they don’t have to.”

  4. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Mr. Church

Nothing at all new or surprising here, just a well-intentioned, pleasant little thing with a remarkably subdued Eddie Murphy as the title character. Sentiment's poured on overly thick and the overuse of voiceover's as irritating as it always is outside of Bresson's films, but hey, enjoyable enough and not stupid, and that's pretty much the most I hope for from current American movies.

  5. Warren Mitchell's rating of the film Mr. Church

Eddie Murphy returns to acting after a 4-year hiatus to deliver a passionately moving performance, and the movie betrays him with a muddled narrative and confused direction.

  6. Ethan's rating of the film Mr. Church

This was a really great film that kept the corniness at the door and allowed for real emotions to flow. Eddie Murphy gives a top notch performance that deserves an Academy Award.
