"Defenders" was perhaps doomed to a chilly reception, considering that the two least loved Marvel shows - namely, "Daredevil" Season 2 and "Iron Fist" - were the most integral to its plot, but it's interesting to watch the showrunners finally embrace the comic book movie aesthetic they avoided in the solo character seasons: expect dutch angles galore, hero-specific color correction, and stylish scene transitions.
THE DEFENDERS maybe not the greatest effort from Marvel/Netflix (first season of Daredevil still the best). It was kinda boring in the first few episodes. Then, THE DEFENDERS became exciting after that. Also, it isn't has a complex villain like Kingpin or Kilgrave. But I loved THE DEFENDERS because it gave the same excitements as when I saw THE AVENGERS member grouped together. I think 8 episodes isn't enough to me..
4 Netflix series for the price of one. Sadly it also looks rushed like the writers and production values has been working too fast without thinking quality as this show is filled with many missed opportunities in this series especially Sigourney Weaver's role and the main plot that makes no sense. Some humor works good though and it may be the best "jumping onboard" show for those who don't want to see everything.
It was fun to watch - partly because each one of these heroes is well explored (even though there is a weaker one) but mostly because Elektra was resurrected and incited to surrender to her devilish ways. However, it chose the wrong focus (e.g., characters, villains' army) and by doing so it lost a lot of its potential.
6 dull as dishwater episodes. two great ones at the end. not a great ratio for an 8 ep series. cage is dull, iron fist is annoying. jones is still cool and dd has his moments but the best thing by a stretch is elektra. without her it would be nothing.
