“Well, essentially the two genres that I was interested in writing about when I went to America were the Detective and the Western genres. In a way, they satisfied some requirements of detachment from personal content and yet allowed me to write about themes that interested me. I wrote Night Moves, the last of the five original screenplays that were made, while I was there.”
