Ayumi Ito




Ayumi Ito (伊藤 歩 Itō Ayumi, born on April 14, 1980 in Tokyo) is a Japanese actress who got her big break playing the leading role in Shunji Iwai’s Swallowtail Butterfly in 1996, for which she won a Japan Academy Award, and also appeared in the director’s All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) and Hana and Alice (2004). Her other major credits include Shohei Imamura’s Dr. Akagi (1998), Nodo Jiman (1999), Sayonara, Kuro (2003), Tokyo Tower – Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad (2007), Tokyo! (2008), Solanin (2010), Gantz: Perfect Answer (2011) and the upcoming A Story of Yonosuke from Shuichi Okita. For a short time, Ito was the lead vocalist in the all-girl rock band Mean Machine, along with YUKI and Chara. She also voices a recurring character in the “Final Fantasy” game franchise, and is very active on TV.
