I was sobbing all film, from first to last minutes. Marina is the new prophet, she moves every cell of my body. Seems as if she sits and thinks: what could I do that I can't do..? She is provocative and radical, also, genuine, emotional, true, present. Documentary is deeply moving too.
I won't pretend to understand her art and before the film I'd have doubted I would yearn to sit w/ her. I didn't grasp all the tears produced during the show, but this is one of the most fascinating and astonishing films I've seen - fascinating because it made me want to understand, astonishing because it made want to experience. As docu cinema it strikes all the right notes, down to Halpern's score. Powerful cinema!
One of the most inspiring documentaries I've seen in my life. Look up so much to Marina as a woman, artist and human being. Dying to see her in person some day and thank her for her beautiful existence.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of performance art, I found this documentary incredibly moving! Ms.Abramovic is such a compelling, confronting, and yet, a gentle human being! Not a second of this is boring, which can be hard to find with documentaries. Quite something!
I do not care much for performance artists (I'm sorry) but this was such an exhausting and emotional ride into her art that it is absolutely impossible be impassive about it. She's done it all and this definite retrospective of her career is as much alive as all of her other performances, but in a much bigger scale, and the movie translates that just wonderfully. A must watch for anyone interested in any kind of art.
