Shalimar Preuss' Strange Says the Angel is a family story told through the point of view of 7-year-old Nina. There is a strange kind of purity in Nina, that is beautiful and makes you long for her. Her kid like fantasies to be her father's lover and her aunt's daughter are more sorrowful than just funny. The film has a inclination towards nature and a few shots reminded me of Ryan Gosling's Lost River.
Wow, opinions are all over the place on this film. Some people loved it and some of you hated it. It just goes to show how different people can be. For me, this is about how the film makes you feel, more than what is says. I don't always pay attention to what people are saying, anyway.
