The film, in case you’re wondering, still holds up — especially at a time when superhero flicks, with a few exceptions, have turned assembly-line anonymity into both an aesthetic and a transactional promise. Seen through today’s glut of pro forma blockbusters, The Dark Knight seems like that rarest of movies — a mass-market product that also happens to be a personal picture driven by genuine moral vision.

Was sagen Andere darüber?

  • Nicholas Gregory's rating of the film The Dark Knight

It mainly keeps rushing to its next setpiece, both in a constant climax and often bored with itself due to having to destroy itself constantly to reinvigorate a weak narrative. And it only lingers on the action that should be much briefer. By never letting it sizzle to make its action and dramatic impact more profound, Nolan created a film that works like the inattention of ADHD and the soullessness of narcolepsy.

  • HKFanatic's rating of the film The Dark Knight

Almost a decade on, it's fairly easy to see this as *the* film of the post-9/11 era. Nolan utilized the Batman mythos to explore issues as weighty as terrorism, the surveillance state, and vigilante justice. Joker's "social experiment," which felt somehow clumsy at the time, now seems to have anticipated our Trump period divisiveness. This is a story about Gotham City in the same way "The Wire" is about Baltimore.

  • Lights in the Dusk's rating of the film The Dark Knight

While Nolan's filmmaking is occasionally bland & televisual, weighed down by unnecessary exposition, TDK nonetheless emerges as an engaging & powerful treatise on the morality of vigilantism, the dualism between good & evil, & the reality of how readily the former can be corrupted by tragic circumstances. The subtext is alive with issues of post-millennium terror, giving the action a much deeper emotional resonance.

  • ASHES IN THE HOURGLASS's rating of the film The Dark Knight

Goyer's bad script. CHECK. Nolan's incapability to pace his film and to not threat his audience like children. CHECK. Generic Hans Zimmer Soundtrack. CHECK. The Bat voice. TRIPLE CHECK. Completely ruining the noir like elements of the series in exchange for a poor man's Heat. ULTRAAA COMBO. And yet, I don't hate this enormously overrated film. And we all know why: Heath Leager. He is the only reason this film exists.

  • Zac Weber's rating of the film The Dark Knight

Like the best comic adaptations, The Dark Knight explores the psychological side of its main characters. A legendary performance by Heath Ledger, but my only real knock is how lame Batman seems. Why does he growl?

  • ig_____or's rating of the film The Dark Knight

I tend to ignore most of the super-hero movies that come out, however I went to see this one on the cinema and just re-watched it a couple of days ago and is still a very powerful movie. It's so well made and with such a strong concept that the fact that there's this man dressed like a bat doesn't even look ridiculous. The Joker and his fascination with chaos and anarchy are the driving force, but I loved Two-Face!

  • Dave's rating of the film The Dark Knight

Like the first film in the trilogy, the dark, noirish world that Nolan creates is what sticks out most for me. A great action film and unless TDKR proves otherwise, the best comic book adaptation I have seen. My only complaint, and what holds it back from 5/5 for me, is that Nolan sometimes seems to stretch sequences out far too much (which he did even more in Inception), so things felt a bit longer than necessary.
