Cousins is certainly entitled to his subtitle, especially after one considers that he’s trying to remap certain aspects of film criticism as well. But truthfully, his innocent odyssey is, for better and for worse, closer to a theme-park ride than it is to a critical or historical essay, placing it in quite a separate universe from Jean-Luc Godard’s Histoire(s) du ichar.
