The Internet Movie Database Top 250 movie list gets a lot of attention. For immature, burgeoning cinephiles, the list is often a starting resource for discovering popular and well regarded films. For many “serious” film buffs the list is an insulting reflection of a popular mentality that gives undue extra credit to commercialized, recently released, English language films over the acknowledgement of the broader scope of global cinema history.
