New Queer Cinema icon Gregg Araki’s suspenseful adaptation stars Shailene Woodley as a teen whose sexual awakening overshadows the disappearance of her mother, played by a perfect Eva Green. Equal parts coming-of-age melodrama and California noir, White Bird In A Blizzard is sumptuously subversive.
