Synopsis

A young brother and sister, roaming an apocalyptic city, take refuge in the lair of a strange hermit. He puts them to work building a bizarre cavernous structure, where he acts out his depraved fantasies. Trapped, they find themselves sinking into the realms of dark and forbidden behaviour.

Our take

Channeling cinema’s provocateur-in-chief, Gaspar Noé, Emiliano Rocha Minter’s outrageous debut feature plays brinkmanship with boundaries in a post-apocalyptic bonfire of taboos. Infernal visuals sear the eyes, but it is the committedly wild lead performances which brand the brain.
