In 1961 Jan Vrijman made his first appearance as a filmmaker with De werkelijkheid van Karel Appel, a film portrait of the Cobra painter. More than twenty-five years later, in Cobra, een opstand tegen de orde Vrijman investigates what has happened to the ideals of the Cobra movement.
