“For every project, I think making rules in prep is very important. Some are dictated by budget, and some are fueled by the way that you want to tell the story. Making that box for yourself to live in just helps to define the language of the project. Having those guidelines in place is really important, but there can be times when you intentionally break the rules for impact.”
