“The earthquake changed my awareness of ['Wonogawa']. If you are going to make a movie dealing with the future world in Tohoku based on that, there is no point in making it unless you incorporate something about it. So, with that in mind, I changed the second half of the script while incorporating metaphorical elements of Japanese society. I wanted to tell the story that how we get results will lead to our future, and I think that I was able to create such a work, so I think it will be an opportunity to think about something.”
