[Yuri Neyman on Jan Kalis]: His most famous film 'The Fifth Horseman Is Fear' is another lost and forgotten masterpiece, a bright representative of the Czech New Wave. In terms of its style, or the effect of perception, the film is similar to Fellini's films. It is a wonderful masterwork, unfortunately almost unknown to the viewer as are many other films of the Czechoslovak New Wave - a phenomenon much less known than the French and Italian neorealism.
