“You have to write what you know, so when it came time for me to do it I thought that if I was going to do a horror film that feels different and original I needed to do something I personally know. I asked myself what I knew that a lot of people don’t. I hadn’t seen a truly Jewish horror film that dealt with Jewish mythology. That was the setup [for 'The Vigil'].”
