“Acting is on an instinctive level, while directing is more intellectual. It’s also an issue of responsibility. When you act, you're protected by a character and a script. So acting is more like a kid—it’s playful. As a director, you're much more exposed; it's about growing up and being an adult.”

JESSICA HAUSNER Austria, 2023

Starring Mia Wasikowska in a sharp performance of monomaniacal control, Jessica Hausner’s withering film immerses itself in the perils of clean-eating. Spiked with bilious, fluorescent yellow, the precise framing of this smart satire mirrors the allure of perfection and groupthink’s dangerous ends.
