Adapted from Barış Bıçakçı’s critically hailed novel, Our Grand Despair puts a fresh spin on a platonic love triangle, charmingly depicting moments of rapture and melancholy. Set in a hauntingly beautiful Ankara, Seyfi Teoman’s swan song is a soul-stirring portrait of a complex male bond.

Contrasting rigorous compositions of military neatness with all-too-human close-ups, this incisive debut dwells in the divided allegiances of country and family. Treading through mental and physical battlefields, this slow-burn thriller crosses into the no-man’s-land of the soul.
