“You pick up interesting techniques from [chart music] – sometimes on curiosity or novelty, but a lot of the time it inspires new techniques or has me thinking ‘How did that producer pull that weird transition off?’ I don’t like to ignore it. I think it’s a staging area for a lot of good ideas.”
