“Looking back to my university days, I never got a chance to direct even one film, spending my day doing nothing but helping others… Before long, I started to be involved in acting. Wearing a bloody t-shirt, I roamed the city street and attacked passersby. I found myself handcuffed together with a girl and we entered into the sea. At that time I lived in Toyohashi, so it took me an hour to reach Nagoya City where the film had been actually shot. Riding in my friend’s car… it means I have a little time on my hands to plot my next novel. Film-making and writing went together naturally for me. Of course I found no time to study at all.”
