Our take
As soulful as the voice of the Cape Verdean icon herself, Ana Sofia Fonseca’s intimate documentary observes the great Cesária Évora both on and off the stage. Placing her public success and private struggles side by side, the film probes the nuances of fame in a discriminatory, unforgiving industry.
