Our take

Salting psychological trauma with sly humor and a mackerel kitten, this bracing debut from comedian Eva Victor puts roses in the cheeks. Recalling Kenneth Lonergan’s dramas with piercing honesty and confident tread, this tale of self-compassion and companionship is an adagio in New England snow.
