EQUINOX FLOWER

Yasujirô Ozu Japan, 1958
Ozu's first color film is shriekingly expressive; he gashes his pastel palette with sanguine streaks and, though he mainly keeps the camera in his familiar close-to-the-ground tatami position, he bangs out angles with an ardent impulsiveness that conveys his own passion.
