The lack of suspense would have been forgivable if there was some craft to the proceedings but there isn’t. Budget cannot be an excuse for a lack of creativity. Both the general direction and cinematography are dull.

If the idea of a Japanese vampire movie seems intriguing, "Lake of Dracula" leaves that idea all but untouched... I've never seen such a movie for creaking doors, footsteps on the stairs and all the other paraphernalia that have so much to do with shock and so little to do with the deeper and more delightful forms of terror... We vampire lovers are used to something better.
