It’s breezy, benignly outrageous, equal parts grotty and sweet. There’s not much to it beyond that, but if you’re in a receptive mood, you might agree with me that there doesn’t have to be.

More escapade than movie, Augustine Frizzell’s unapologetically raunchy debut feature, “Never Goin’ Back,” spends most of its running time searching for a plot. That shouldn’t dismay its target audience, provided the movie’s helium-light tone and unswerving faith in skin, drugs and below-the-belt wisecracks remain strong. And they do.

The film might benefit from a touch of added backstory regarding how these girls ended up in their precarious situation, but Never Goin’ Back’s main missteps come when it relies too much on gross-out humor. . . . Still, it’s a breezy watch, and even as Angela and Jessie run around lawlessly, making poor decisions at every turn, it’s hard not to root for them.
