I cannot fault viewers for enjoying RRR so much...I’m concerned more about the timing of it all, the global presence, the recipe for viral success that other filmmakers will be eyeing. It’s an ingenious form of soft-power propaganda, one that can be interpreted as positively asserting an otherwise-marginalized ideology.

Simply put, "RRR" is one of the best action blockbusters you'll see this summer... it's an action masterpiece that's also a musical.

RRR offers the kind of action extravagance that even the biggest-budgeted superhero movies (such as Spider-Man: No Way Home or Black Widow) seem curiously afraid to embrace... Seeing a film as visually inventive as RRR serves as a reminder of how much modern action usually follows a formula.

[RRR] is a film of giddy, exhilarating hyperbole in which physical action pierces the barrier of impossibility but stops short of the supernatural or superheroic. And there’s a dashing graphic sense of composition and an assertively precise sense of rapid action that owes nothing to the generic jumble with which most Hollywood action scenes are filmed and edited.

More than anything, RRR is about the movies: the thrill of watching stories told at larger-than-life levels, the joy of watching stars collide (with each other and CGI tigers), the effort of rendering lavish mythologies at whatever the digital equivalent of 24 frames per second is, the sensation of seeing manufactured movement via gleefully conspicuous special effects bump up against genuine physical effort.

“RRR” is a fine showcase for Rajamouli’s characteristic focus on maximalist action choreography, overwhelming stuntwork and pyrotechnics, and sophisticated computer graphics.

RRR exemplifies Rajamouli’s pan-Indian address, [but his] gleefully revisionist tale of nation-building is also troublingly Hindu-centric... In an India plagued by the rise of Hindutva, or Hindu nationalism, where mythological iconography is often invoked to violent ends, Rajamouli’s folkloric project may need updating—a cultural reinvention to match his technical innovation.

RRR is truly a packed film, but its 182 minutes never feel unjustified, and while the character relationships are simple and almost preordained... Much of the pleasure of the film comes from the slow assemblage of every piece into place. It might be a machine, but it is one of magnificent intricacy and care

When it comes to spectacle, S.S. Rajamouli delivers. And then some... Riotous good fun from start to finish... [RRR] reminds audiences what big screen entertainment is all about.

People who hand-wring about movies being dead really need to check this one out. “RRR” proves that, yes, cinema is alive and well, but only if you’re willing, every now and again, to look past your backyard.

Rajamouli shoots the film’s action with hallucinogenic fervor, supercharging scenes with a shimmering brand of extended slow-motion and C.G.I. that feels less “generated” than unleashed.

A bigger-than-life and bolder-than-mainstream action-adventure epic... [RRR] is such an irresistible and intoxicating celebration of cinematic excess that even after 187 minutes, you are left exhilarated, not exhausted.
