The movie is a showcase of dazzling camera moves, dollies, impossible tracking shots, the camera hanging like a trapeze artist inside the car, the corps de flics snaking through the flatlands of Texas. But he also shows his genius for never letting the pyrotechnics overwhelm human drama.
