Drafted for the Vietnam War, naive farmhand Claude arrives in New York, where he befriends a commune of hippies led by the charismatic George Berger. As they challenge his beliefs and introduce him to a free-spirited world, Claude meets and falls for Sheila, a rich debutante with a rebellious soul.
