Synopsis

At a prestigious and predominantly white Ivy League school, Winchester University, film student Sam confronts its widespread racial disparity through her campus radio show, Dear White People. While backlash grows, Lionel finds a tentative sense of belonging after joining the student newspaper.

Our take

Director Justin Simien skewers Obama-era fantasies of a post-racial America in his smart—and prescient—culture-war campus satire. Tempering its righteous fury with mischievous self-deprecation, this volatile debut lights the fuse of a ready-to-blow nation, leaving no one unscathed.
