ATG: Art Theater Guild

The forefront of the Japanese New Wave, ATG or the Art Theater Guild, was a collective of some of the greatest auteurs of Japan’s post-war history. Happily, since I first started this list with only five films, MUBI has added tons of ATG films courtesy of all the great people on this site that bothered going through the effort of submitting films to this site, but unfortunately still, aside from Japan and a few releases throughout the world, finding ATG films with subtitles in the west can still be a bit of a chore.
