The list excludes works of Russian directors of films primarily in another language (e.g,, Eisenstein’s Que Viva Mexico; Tarkovsky’s Sacrifice, Tengiz Abuladze’s Repentance, Mikhlakov’s Dark Eyes). Paradjanov’s films, originally listed here, were not in Russian but in Armenian and in Ukranian languages and have been removed.
