Swordsman Kar Yat-long falls in love with Moon-cher, who appeared in his dreams, and who is forced to marry the King of demons to protect her village. Yat-long then rescues an injured fox spirit, Ching’er, who develops unrequited feelings for him and helps him in his attempt to save Moon-cher.
