The film takes place at the dawn of the twentieth century in Stockholm. Anita Ekström is a young and rather impressionable woman, who is swept off her feet by the hero of the working class (Gösta Bredefeldt). She soon discovers that the socialist cause represents a higher priority to her boyfriend.
