A troupe of actors short on funds comes to town, but bad weather prevents them from putting on shows. Kihachi, the troupe’s leader, visits Otsune (an ex-lover) and their son, Shinkichi, who believes his father is dead. While Kihachi’s mistress hatches a plot to bring down her lover’s son.
