A sea resort on the Picardie coast, late August. When handing over the keys to a rented apartment, Sylvain makes the acquaintance of two beautiful women. This is a chance for him to escape his daily routine, even if just for a few days. Sooner than later, Sylvain’s new friends can’t do without him.
Bathed in red and blue hues, this César-nominated short and its romantic intrigue feels Rohmerian, yet the detailed sketching of coastal Ault embodies Guillaume Brac’s documentarian sensibility. Shot on 16mm, the film’s summery encounters are at once pleasurable and melancholic in their briefness.
