A true story of an Englishwoman who moves to South Africa in 1906. She quickly becomes disillusioned by the way in which blacks are treated and cheated by the white rulers, and is well ahead of her time by refusing to take her place as a nonentity in the hierarchy of the de facto white aristocracy.
