Synopsis

A filmmaker creates a character from fragments of her favorite international cinema stars and then presents a non-linear story of her own life. As she recycles excerpts from over 180 movies—including Paris, Texas and Buffalo ’66—the filmmaker reflects upon her identity and memory.

Our take

The simple premise of this unique, female self-portrait—a search for one’s self through faces, dialogue, and images from films—becomes a complex exploration of identity and its construction through others. This work is a mesmerizing, empathetic kaleidoscope of cinematic appropriation.
