In July 1956, with mountaineer Gaston Rébuffat, actor and cellist Maurice Baquet made the first ascent of the south face of the Aiguille du Midi. 32 years later, in homage to his friend Gaston, now deceased, Maurice Baquet climbed this summit again with Christophe Profit.
