Bawarchi’ means cook in Hindi, and it takes a great one to serve up more than ordinary nourishment to the comically dysfunctional Sharma family. Not only a master chef, Bawarchi’s also a singer, dancer and poet — but is he too good to be true?

Based on a story by Tapan Sinha and inspired by his film Galpa Haleo Satyi, Bawarchi perfectly catches the nuances of a chaotic disgruntled middle-class joint family. Through the satirical tone and witty dialogue this film makes a subtle comment about the then socio-economic state of India.
