Synopsis

Eight months after Jan’s death, Dagmar Buresova and the Palach family are still trying to set the record straight, but witnesses refuse to come forward for fear of reprisals from the Communist regime.

Our take

With her work on the Three Colors trilogy, her collaborations with Andrezj Wajda, and her own Oscar®-nominated directing career, Agnieszka Holland emerged as a bard of Europe’s ghosts. Her epic saga, concluding today, is an intimate, vividly rendered drama of the origins of a revolution.
