Synopsis

Dresses run ashore like survivors from a shipwreck. A nun spots them from afar and they’re quickly scooped up, laid to dry, and find a new life as celebrities in an unnamed local hotel run by the entrepreneurial nuns. But something’s not quite right.

Our take

From Italian auteur Alice Rohrwacher (The Wonders) comes this fairytale set against the evocative backdrop of Venice Lido. Starring her frequent collaborator and sister, De Djess boldly captures the very essence of femininity while poking fun at some of Italian cinema’s most glamorous clichés.
