Synopsis

On February 8, 1977, Tony Kiritsis entered the office of Richard Hall, president of the Meridian Mortgage Company, and took him hostage with a sawed-off shotgun wired with a “dead man’s wire” from the trigger to Tony’s own neck.

Our take

Returning auteur Gus Van Sant interrogates justice in this true-story class-war thriller, primed for politically violent times. Nodding to Sidney Lumet’s incendiary Dog Day Afternoon, the film casts Al Pacino as a preening fat-cat banker opposite Bill Skarsgård’s spectacularly combustible antihero.
