Synopsis

On the last day of the G8 summit in Genoa in 2001, hundreds of police stormed the Diaz school, a temporary shelter for the many international protesters. For two hours, the police moved down its hallways, indiscriminately attacking everyone, sending dozens off to the hospital or a detention center.

Our take

State violence is brought to damning light in this courageous film of unflinching remembrance. Deploying quick, immersive editing to recreate a bloodied clash between police and protestors, director Daniele Vicari reckons with the tragic wrongs of the recent past in this powerful drama.
