Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
After her husband is killed by Hagen, Kriemhild develops an intricate revenge. But the woman also has to overcome her brothers, who long ago swore allegiance to Hagen. She flees to Burgundy to marry Etzel, king of the Huns. When she bears a child, she invites her brothers for a deadly party.
Harald Reinl’s two-part remake of Fritz Lang’s silent opus reaches its epic conclusion with Kriemhild’s Revenge. Attila the Hun joins the party, as Reinl ups the action stakes with a terrific battle, en route to a finale that undercuts the first instalment’s notions of heroism and good vs. evil.
