Our take

The heady tenderness of love is perfectly distilled in Varda’s short film on Elsa Triolet, the Prix Goncourt–winning writer and partner of legendary surrealist poet Louis Aragon. Varda’s admiration for both Elsa’s inner strength and talent and the unique quality of her marriage are truly palpable.
