Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
In the wake of a devastating riot in Gujarat, India, in 2002—a tragedy that killed 3,000 Muslims—a handful of ordinary people (a Muslim singer, the gentle wife of a Hindu right-winger, a man of mixed parentage, and an orphan child) grapple with the repercussions and attempt to rebuild their lives.
This film centres its plot around a major historical tragedy that unfolds through a series of stories as told through the perspective of a blend of characters. The film is anchored by the profoundly inspirational Naseeruddin Shah and features excellent art direction and deeply moving themes.
