In the wake of a devastating riot in Gujarat, India, in 2002—a tragedy that killed 3,000 Muslims—a handful of ordinary people (a Muslim singer, the gentle wife of a Hindu right-winger, a man of mixed parentage, and an orphan child) grapple with the repercussions and attempt to rebuild their lives.
