A personal travelog through Turkey. In Spring 2005, the German-Turkish director Thomas Arslan took a trip from Istanbul and Ankara to the southwest and from there to the Iranian border. This is his personal view of this country: not journalistic reportage, but impressions of daily life.
In his only work of nonfiction to date, Thomas Arslan leaves Germany to travel across Turkey, making a pilgrimage that speaks to his family history. As the filmmaker looks laconically at the country’s various crowds and landscapes, he moves beyond autobiography to consider the character of a nation.
