Fritz Perls (1893 – 1970) developed and popularized Gestalt therapy, after his training as a psychoanalyst in Berlin, then Austria. He and his family fled the Nazi regime to South Africa in 1933, establishing a training institute for psychoanalysis before developing his unique theoretical approach.
