John Muller, a medical school dropout and brilliant crook, plans a holdup that goes wrong and finds vindictive gambler Rocky Stansyck after him. Hiding out, he stumbles onto a lucky chance to assume a new identity, that of psychiatrist Victor Bartok, who happens to be his virtual double.
